Amzi L. McConnell was born December 2, 1785 in Elmira, New York the second to the youngest son of Matthew and Elizabeth MacConnel. He married Catherine Beers on February 11, 1811. Catherine, daughter of Henry Beers, was of Irish and English desecent.
In 1814 Amzi and Catherine purchased a farm in Orleans County, New York. They resided
there until June 1833 when they moved to Adrian, Michigan. Their farm was located in the western half of the
northwest quarter of Section 17 in Adrian.
Amzi and Catherine had 5 children;

Amzi died July 29, 1837 of bleeding of the nose. He served as a soldier in the War of
1812 and after his death his family received forty acres of land on his soldier's claim
